Until some weeks ago, I had no idea about the historical theme park Puy du Fou Toledo. I don’t remember when I saw for first time some like “best things to do in Toledo, go to Puy du Fou” in a blog. Nor I knew somebody who had been there, so I decided to check more info about it.
I didn’t find so much information of this Spanish theme park online and I had my doubts about going there… But we decided to visit it in one recent trip to Toledo. And I’m glad we went, because it ended up being a really nice experience! Find in this post why you should go to this Spanish theme park in Toledo.

What is Puy du Fou?
Puy du Fou Toledo is a theme park that represents Spanish medieval history with well developed scenography and epic shows. There is an older and bigger Puy du Fou in France, and this one in Toledo is the version in Spain. This park has a small village with houses, that are traditional shops or little restaurants, and paths that lead to big buildings where they display the shows.
Puy du Fou offers the possibility to enjoy some historical moments of important people or events in Spanish history, like the knight El Cid or Christofer Columbus. The park is all new, well maintained and it is a perfect escapade if you are next to Toledo.
Reasons to visit Puy du Fou in Toledo
Since the moment you arrive you see the park is ordered and well mantained. Parking assistants guide you in a free parking and the access to the park is really simple. Inside the park, there aren’t so many houses or shows, but they are enough to keep you there for some hours, during the breaks of the big shows.
As mentioned earlier, the villages have small restaurants with different food options, but you can also BYO food or drinks (glass is not allowed), something that will save you money. A good thing about the park is that everyday they change the schedule of the shows, and you choose what you want to see during your instance there. For example, we had Christmas decoration, and welcomed the three wise men with fireworks.
The main highlight are the big shows like El Último Cantar, A Pluma y Espada or Allende La Mar Oceana, that are truly amazing. Even more, depending on the season, they do (or not) some different spectacles. The biggest show in Spain is called Sueño de Toledo, with more than 200 actors, horses and 1500 years of history.
To be honest, we all marvelled with El Último Cantar. I won’t reveal anything about the show, but the stage and the setting are epic. We had never seen anything like that even in Internet.
If you like dance performances, horses and changing scenery, you’ll fall in love with A Pluma y Espada show. This one was Ellen’s favourite. I can’t imagine how impressive the Sueño de Toledo has to be but I’m sure we’ll come back in some years, when they add other big shows.
Cost and other considerations
The basic entrance is 32€ /adult and 22 € for kids from 3 to 13 years old. Kids below 3 pass for free. This is for the basic entrance. In case you want to have food included or get the show El Sueño de Toledo you have to pay extra. Check the official website for more details.
We went there with our food to save money but its hard to say no to some things like chocolate con churros or some souvenirs, so bring some extra money (cards are welcomed). Also, there is no tap water or fountains, so bring your own water too.
Lastly, and SUPER IMPORTANT if you are foreigner, bring earphones! All the shows are in Spanish, and the only option to hear them in English (or French) is have the app, the Wi-Fi of the park, and your headphones for your phone. When the show starts, you have to press Play in the app and it should synchronise with the show.
Is it worth it?
We absolutely recommend visiting Puy du Fou Toledo. It’s a really good plan to spend some hours and you’ll remember the shows and some other spectacles. It’s a great plan to do with kids, friends or couples. It highlights important moments of Spanish culture and history (something I personally loved). Moreover, the park is next to Toledo, it’s easy to get and it’s affordable (unless without El Sueño de Toledo). For us, it was a unique experience and a great plan to include in our visit to Toledo.
What to do around
Next to the park there is one of the best cities of Spain… Toledo!
