Mallorca has more than 200 beaches and types for everyone. If you prefer the type of beach that is hard to get to and almost nobody goes there, Es Coll Baix beach is perfect for you.
Es Coll Baix is a secluded beach in Alcúdia and it’s probably one of the best beaches in the whole Balearic Islands. Getting there takes 45 minutes of walking down from the parking area and the last 5 minutes are a bit complicated through coastal rocks, but nothing crazy. If you want to know everything about this cute beach, keep reading!

Where is Es Coll Baix Beach
Es Coll Baix is an almost virgin beach in the Alcúdia area. There aren’t other beaches in this region, and it is a good option for a morning plan. Since the beach is isolated, remember to bring all the necessary stuff. A good idea is to visit this beach in the morning and Alcúdia town, Pollensa, or Formentor in the evening, as we did.
How to get there
By Car + Hiking
To get there, the only way is to drive from the town of Alcúdia. Google “Refugi del Coll Baix” and that’s the area to park the car. It’s a 20-minute drive to the parking area, and important: towards the last 10 minutes, the road is really damaged and going slow is mandatory. We did it with a small car and there is no problem, just letting you know this fact.
Also, if you go on a weekend in summer there will be other cars, so probably you can’t park at the very beginning of the hike. In that case, park in earlier parking slots. There are many places to park, but the road gets even worse at the end.
Extra info: there are other hikes and options to reach the beach, but they include walking longer. That’s why we decided to come this way.
By Boat
If you choose to go by boat, there are boats that depart daily from Puerto de Alcúdia in the summer season. Of course, another option is going on your own with a private boat.

Just kidding.
The hike to Es Coll Baix beach from Refugi del Coll Baix
Once you have parked the car, the hike is quite straightforward. You have to go up a bit, and then all the way down to the beach. At first, you’ll be accompanied by goats that are there, doing goat things.
The hike as we mentioned is around 45 mins. It’s not a long distance and it seems close once you see the beach, the problem is that the last part goes over coastal rocks. The first part of the hike is in the middle of trees, quite pleasant and nice if you ask me.
A good thing about the hike is that it is mainly covered by trees, so there is shade in the majority of the path. A bad thing about it is that the path is a bit unclear in some parts.
The second part of the hike is not as nice. This is why highly recommend avoiding slippers. Bring trainers or trail shoes, and the same goes for other beaches in Mallorca. This part includes walking through some slippery rocks and uneven terrain. Don’t worry because Es Coll Baix beach deserves the walk.
If you don’t feel like walking so much, we also found a nice place to lay and go in the water with epic coastal views. Sometimes having good views of a beach, is even better than being on the beach itself.
Once on the beach, congratulations! You’ll be on one of the best beaches of Mallorca, with soft stones and pristine waters, few tourists, and no stress. To go back, the only option is to retrace your steps until the parking.
