Es Caló des Moro beach is a widely known beach in Mallorca and we’re not going to lie: it’s absolutely beautiful. I’m 100% sure this beach is familiar to you. Basically, because it always appears when you google Mallorca, best beaches in Spain or even best beaches in the world.
Es Caló des Moro is a marvel hard to describe. A slice of pristine water that cuts into the land, leaving rocks and trees on both sides, creating an amazing landscape. In addition, when you’re at the beach, you see a gulf in the front, giving the idea that you’re surrounded by land.

Where is Caló Des Moro
This gem is located in Santany, on the southeast side of the island. The beach is near its neighbour Cala S’Almunia, which we also recommend visiting. Around Caló des Moro there is just bush and small paths to park the cars. This is a good reason to go early in the morning. If you go late, after 10 am, the chaos in the parking will be interesting.
How to get to Caló des Moro beach
By car
Simply google Caló des Moro in Maps. When you are closeby, try to park in the roads. Remember to avoid parking on the yellow lines! Otherwise, you won’t find your car when you go back. Depending on where you have parked, there are two paths to get to the beach.
One path (line A in the map) goes from the road through the bush with epic views of the beach. I would recommend doing part of this path even if you come from the other side because the views are worth the extra steps.
The other path (line B) goes down to Cala S’Almunia after some steps. This cala is connected to Caló des Moro thanks to a nice new path. In both cases, it requires less than 10 minutes of walking to make it to the beach.
By boat
Another option, that we couldn’t do, is to visit this beach by boat. In our case, we rented a boat from OceanCharterMallorca, that we loved and absolutely recommend. Since we were in Cala Fustera (north to Caló Des Moro) and that day the wind was blowing south hard, going against the wind coming back wasn’t a good idea.
Anyways, if you can make it I’m sure you won’t regret the decision. The beach looks spectacular from every point!
An open secret in Mallorca
In the past, without social media nor the internet, this beach was a local secret. I remember going there with my parents thanks to the advice of a local waiter, by recommendation. But there were no reels, influencers, nor Top 10 beaches blogs showing this beach.
Today, Caló des Moro is very different. Everybody wants to share a photo from there. They expect the beach to be like “in the photos” and yes, the beach is exactly the same, but with TONS of people.
Our honest advice for visiting Caló des Moro
The beach has no bar or services and the part with sand is just some meters long, so not many people really fit there, but everyone wants to be there. What happens then? There are lines of people going down to the beach, people going up and others looking for places to put the towel, not to mention the people in the water taking infinite photos or videos.
We went there at the end of June on a midweek day and by 10:15 we were at the beach, towel included. Within the next 20 minutes, crowds began to come down and started to ruin the paradise. I can’t even imagine how it looks in the midday on a weekend in August…
Our direct advice would be: don’t go to the beach after 10 am and consider skipping it on weekends in July-August.
There are many other cute beaches in Mallorca and you can be alone if you don’t mind sweating on a hike to get there.
