In response to: What the brochures dont tell you!

It's amazing how what you are saying all seems like a story. None of it even seems like reality. But I know this type of thing, be it with trees, oil, diamonds or any other precious natural resource is going on all over the world. It's amazing what so few people can do to destroy the world and nobody can stop them. Or can they?

A harrowing portrail indeed. Why does nobody stop to think that the short term benefits are far outweighed by the world eco-catastrophy waiting to happen. There is no pleasure in saying "I told you so" when our world is in it's death throws.

WOW! gosh, we are sorry that we missed this... it seems like we sort of decided to spend more time in opposite ends of Borneo..so that means we can definitely recommend the Longhouse visit in Sarawak. We also really enjoyed Niah Caves. If you get to Batu Niah late in the afternoon, evening, then you can see the caves the next day and leave the following morning. Just in case you are able to pencil it in... glad to read that you had a good time in Sabah.. and OH, my legs have not recovered from Mt. Kinabalu yet...

One last thing, read up about Siquijor Island, The Philippines. We stayed at Islanders Paradise (LP has their web address to book online) which was stunning, and I mean that. It has some of the best snorkeling in Phil O'Pines (or so they say) but you have to know this~ Go Very Far out from the beach to the reef to see all the critters. AND Islanders will pick you up at the jetty if you give them some notice...

hugs to you both!

Well, it's been jsut under a year since we met in Lebanon and I'm glad to see you're still travelling.

I was dizzy and breathless after having read about your climb but I wanted to pack up and leave right away to do something equally crazy.

Good luck to both of you in your continuing big trip.

Kees

P.S. Loved the George Bush picture from Lebanon. Doesn't it make you sick though to think that there may very well be nothing left of what we saw last December?

Unbelievable achievement. I am so proud of you guys persevering to the summit. I have problems getting up the stairs these days! The view from the top is worth all the effort but the climb itself is remarkable.

Sounds just great - as ever. Borneo might be a bit different and certainly nothing like the Isle Of Whight!

Hi guys!
We are just loving your site - you write brilliantly! Honoured to feature on the bottle beach bit!!Is it still the most gorgeous beach ever? I can't even remember what it looked like, it seems like we were never there!! Just to wind myself up i have a wonderful picture of it on my laptop. As it is grey and absolutely pissing it down at the moment, that really is a wind up. It was great to get home initially, friends had great tales to tell and photos of the wedding but wow, how soon you get back into routines! I have a lovely new class which feels very lucky as there seems to be a record number of nutters in our school this year! Chris is megga busy creating a new kitchen for us - very exciting but very messy. He sends his love.
Take care of each other,

Kirsty and Chris
